Sacramento - Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger used his line-item veto power to sign a budget plan that imposes nearly $500 million in additional cuts. This will affect, as negotiated with legislative leaders, the welfare and healthcare of children, services for the elderly, law enforcement and many other public services.
"This has been a very tough budget, probably the toughest since I have been in office here in Sacramento. This budget is kind of like the good, the bad and the ugly."
~Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger
Schwarzenegger stressed that this cut will aid in paying California's bills. The opposing Democratic leaders, however, depicted the Republican Governor as being callous.
