Why are we attracted to glamour?

Glamour is something you can't bear to be without once you're used to it.

***Question 16 will be posted next Sunday, 12/12/10.***
YOUR FIRST 16 ANSWERS TO QUESTION 14:
• It's a conspiracy! I think the stores like Home Depot and Lowe's make these little tiny colors swatches so we have to keep buying new paint. The lighting in the stores is screwed up too. We keep picking the wrong color and have to go back and get a different one. They make more money! Hahahahaha! ~Sweetstuff "Candy" , Flickr
• Because the color depends on the canvas/area it is painted on.
Could be drying, absorptive properties, etc. ~Primum Non Nocere, Flickr
• Very fun shot looks like something out of Harold and the Purple Crayon - oh, and that questions is easy, it's cuz little pieces of paper are not the same as bigs walls ~Dan Anderson *, Flickr
• It could painted on cement, wood, canvas or any different materials.... ~Ben Salleh, Flickr
• The answer off course is it depends on the color under the paint and it also has to dry :) ~Digimist, Flickr
• I think it's related to how much the eye see of that color, because things appears differently from small areas to wide areas, according to the optical field and how the images is interpreted in the brain, it differs between small and big images, also lights, surrounding objects that reflects on that color, and maybe the background color and material... all play a role in how the eye see the color :) ~BlueLunarRose, Flickr
• Well I'm happy to know that the surprise of the different color is a problem not only for me ! But I have seen that many things change color in the way from the shop to home ! maybe the problem should be the different light...no sure! I will read the answer of the others Flickerer :)) Hug ~Fabiola aka fabyd, Flickr
• the primer effects the color i guess, but you may get the right match as you go deeper or thicker. ~cbuddyme , Flickr
• haha kelly! I don't know...because lighting is different. and I"m bad at envisioning things :) ~Krystal, Village
• So true! Learned that one the hard way once and wound up with a garishly bright yellow bedroom! ~Couture Carrie, Blogger
• I think because a swatch is so small, and when you put that color on a whole entire wall (or even more dramatically, four walls!), it takes on a different life. ~heather yalin, a measure of...
• Haha, maybe because the swatch color was computerized & not really painted on a piece of paper? ~Audrey Allure, Blogger
• hmm...it could be because the swatch of fabric is just that, fabric not a wall with so many other coats on it . . . ah swatches… ~Bionica, Ropita BonBon
• I guess because the surfaces change so the colors does the same. It happens the same with the colors in different computers. xoxo ~B* a la Moda, Blogger

• Well if we are already chosing the colour for specific canvas (concrete, stucco, glass, etc) than the difference is the size of the area that colour is painted on. The small concentration of everything works and feels different from the big one. In vast areas colours always appear darker because there is so much of it... Our brain "cannot handle it". When having the small piece we can see the surrounding environment, we see accompanied light and contrast... but in big areas all we see is the same homogeneous colour. It'l like eating chocolate. Having one bite makes you wanna have more, eating 3 whole plates of it makes you wanna puke :D ~art(C)ore, Flickr

I just saw the movie Sex in the City and though the plot was truly awful I loved the movie and that night I dreamt of limos and stiletto heels. Glamour equates to beauty. Who in their right mind does not love Glamour? I wish the cigarette holder could come back!
You look gorgeous! I love it :) It does feel great to have those glamour shots doesn't it?!
You look fantastic.. I love the overlay in the photos.. do you use photoshop actions? These look fantastic!!!!
Many people think Glamour and fashion is superficial.. but clearly, it's no different than those who take up sewing or cooking, right? It's a passion and desire.. I think, if it comes within, and makes you happy without trying to achieve superficial results.. than.. it is true.
NYC Girl Expat, I did some manual overlays here as I tried to make the colors even.
Thanks, friends, for sharing your answers! :)
because it adds a bit of sparkle to a rather gloomy, boring lifestyle. and why do we need the sparkle? it created the illusion of happiness!

Because of the way it makes us feel :) xx
Because glamour is something that not everyone can have or afford. I guess it's human-nature to want something better than what's commonly seen. :-)
Beautiful pictures!
